Weight saving extremes

  1. I am always amazed at the weight saving extremes one will go to then throw
    away the gains. Save a couple grains by using Titanium screws for
    attaching water bottle cages, chain rings etc. Risk injury by using
    extremely light front end components where a failure will likely result in
    catastrophic accidents then wear a 1/4 pound of gold on your neck which
    flaps you in the face when working hard.

    What happened to commonsense?

    I do think bicycle parts makers are out of control. I mean, stems breaking
    in the TdF in normal use? All this to save an ounce or two.

    Commonsense? I think it is lost.
