  1. Hi. I've been hanging around this group for a while now but this is my first
time posting. I was down to 135lbs from my initial 160lbs for almost a year
and could not budge any lower. About 5 weeks ago I went low carb and got
down to 124lbs, my goal is 120. I have been stalled for about 2 weeks now. I
thought it might be because I don't eat supper. I eat 2 eggs or low carb
pancakes and sausage with decaf coffee at about 5:30am and have a low carb
bar at about 10:00am and either chicken or fish with a good sized salad for
lunch around 2:00pm. I am in ketosis. I started to eat a little supper (tuna
& veggie) to try to jump start my weight loss 3 days ago but instead I've
gained 3lbs! I've been thinking of going back to eating 2 meals and 1 snack
a day. What are some of your thoughts about this?

    Thanks.

It is obvious that unless you are a model, you are wrongfully
obsessing about your body. You have a common mental illness and need
to recognize and deal with it. You probably should seek professional
    help.

Why don't you recognize that your body frame- ie genetics, requires
that you carry 130 pounds minimum, and then work on toning that 130
body with a gym routine. You can then obsess about that instead of an
unhealthy attitude about your 120 pound weight goal.

  3. How many calories (exactly) are you eating every day? When you get that
close to your goal, the amount of calories you consume matters more than
ever. How much do you exercise? When you get that close to your goal, the
amount of exercise you do matters more than ever. In the end, it's not how
many times you eat, or how many times you exercise, but rather the total of
both that will determine whether you lose weight or not.

  4. A stall of 2 weeks or more is quite normal, especially as you're
getting closer to your goal weight. The fact that you remain in
ketosis is a good sign that you're doing fine. Have you checked to see
if you're losing inchs? Sometimes that happens for awhile while your
weight remains constant. What is your current daily carb intake?

If you do stall for a longer period, say a month, then I'd discontinue
the LC bars and pancakes. They are fine for most people, but the bars
typically contain sugar alcohols, which may be a problem for some
people, depending on their metabolism and the particular SA. I'd also
check out what's in the pancake mix. It could be fine, I've used it in
moderation with no problems, but if you are stalled for a long period,
then it would be one of the things to consider that might be suspect.
I've also used the bars in moderation with no problems, but for me,
that was one a couple times a week, not every day.

More likely Paul is the one that needs the mental help. Who the hell
are you to issue mental diagnosis?

Weight fluctuations of 3 lbs or more are pretty common. In general, they're
no cause for concern. For example, I weighed 172 lbs on the 17th of this
month, 175.6 lbs on the 22nd (+3.6 lbs), and 171.6 today (down 4 lbs in 4
days). Fluctuations like this are normal, with your daily weight bouncing
around a moving average...it's the longer-term trends that are important.

"Stalls" are also fairly common, but often times they aren't real. You're
focusing on individual data points and seeing a stall that may, or may not,
    be real.

FWIW, you're already pretty thin, and your long term goal of 120 may not be
realistic depending on your body type and level of exercise. Furthermore,
many people find that those last few pounds will be slower to come off than
when they first started losing weight.

Finally, your post didn't mention exercise...you *are* exercising, aren't
    you?

Actually, she does put down her height in her post - 5'7". And,
while, Paul wasn't being particularly diplomatic about it, 120 pounds
is pretty low for a woman of that height.

    Myra

    It depends on her age.

If she's 25 years old, she'd still be in the "normal" range, and in the 12th
weight percentile (compared to US averages for gender, weight, height, and
age). Meaning that 88% of 5' 7" tall 25 year old women weight more than 120
    lbs.

Of course, if she were 55, she'd be below the 2nd weight percentile (at that
age, a weight of 120 could be considered evidence of an eating disorder).

Not to be ugly, but it sounds like you have an eating disorder. Seriously.

Why? 120 pounds is within the normal BMI range for someone who is 5'7".
And not eating supper is fine, if you don't want to. After all, it's
the end of the day, all you're going to do is go to sleep, you don't
need energy from food for that.

But Donna, those low-carb pancakes and bars could be a problem.
Sometimes they have weird stuff in the ingredients that may or may not
cause stalls. Also, the last few pounds are always a beeyotch, no
    matter what plan you're on.

You didn't mention exercise. If you're not doing any, start. If you
are, maybe increase intensity or switch it up a bit, try new a new
    workout routine.

I noticed that you snipped the part of my post where I asked if you
    were gay...interesting.

Interesting in that I don't see where it's important, yet you seem to

    attach

    great significance to it.

Personally, I don't care whether or not you're gay.

But, that would be one explanation for your apparent hostility towards
women. Of course, there are other possibilities (perhaps a woman dumped
    you
    when you were fat).
