$82 to $124 for me -- single person--working full time and prt time. lots
of fruit, (some already cut up), veggies, yogurt, rarely, like 1 in 5 trips,
do I get meat. 3 frozen dinners a week for work. Wow, still seems like a
lot. (that doesn't include any alcohol for drinking as opposed to cooking!)

When I was in college in the mid 80's I ate on ten dollars a week.
Since I didn't have a refrigerator it sort of limited my culinary
options.

We spend less than a hundred dollars a week to feed two and a half
adults (one of the three of us only lives here part-time). I could do
it for less, but we splurge sometimes.

Back in college, I spent $10-$15 per week feeding myself. Lots of pasta and
rice, veggies, some frozen meat and seafood. I don't recall buying a single
package of fresh meat during all 4 years.

After I got a real job, I started spending around $200 per week (for just
myself). This included a lot of restaurant meals, a lot of prepared foods,
and booze. I gained weight and had mood swings.

Now that I'm over that hump, I'm spending around $40-$50 for fresh meats,
seafood and organic veggies. I'm spending much less and eating much better.

I have no idea how much we spend - especially if you are talking just
groceries. maybe $60-75.00?

we're a family of four, both my kids are under the age of 7 and I'm not
sure but I think we spend around $200 a week, mostly on fresh fruit &
veggies, lean cuts of meat. We rarely go out for dinner.

I'm wondering how much other families with small kids spends per week?

We have 4 kids now all adults. I honestly can't tell you how much we
spent weekly. We grew a lot, bought in bulk, and ate very good. Key
tips - stay away from convenience foods and rely on home cooking.

I shop at Aldi for most of the canned goods and frozen veggies etc. I
would say we spend about 75-100 a week (not including alcohol, but
including paper products- paper towels, TP, etc.) for two adults and a 3

Is that for one person?

I tend to buy relatively inexpensive foods.

I cook some things from scratch which you might not. For example, I
buy dried beans.

other kinds of stores.

And I didn't know what I spent, till I started noting it down on a

I am surprised a t all the money spent. Do you all live on the coasts?
I spend between $90-$130 a week for 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a 12 y o.
This includes cleaning products, pet food
and miscellaneous.
I admit I cook from scratch, but I don't have access to any garden, so all
is purchased.
I have been feeling guilty on the money I spend. You have all salved my
conscience. 🙂

I spend $10/day on groceries for two adults and a 3yo (Dallas), and I'm
a costco guy.

No, we don't live on the coasts. I calculate only food costs, not paper
or cleaning products. We don't have any pets. I save a lot by growing
my own and not using convenience foods. I do a lot of canning and
freezing too. I would never feel guilty spending money on food. We
enjoy good quality food. Sometimes that comes with a price.
