Weatherproof clear sticky tape?

I think Sellotape themselves do a flexible strong, clear,
weather-resistant tape. I used this on my handlebars, over the other bar
tape, which my Audax habit caused me to mash too fast. It worked well
for this.

I think it's made of PVC.

I can't remember what they called it.

I don't know if it would affect the reflective properties either.

You can get ' All-Weather Sellotape ' or some such name,comes on a bigger
roll.V.Good IME.Available from stationers and perhaps Halfords and the
like.Had some Halfords own brand tape once,not as good.

There is a good strong waterproof clear tape that you can get from
hardware shops and plumbers that is used for sealing joints such as
around baths. and window panes. It comes in very useful for just teh job
you are doing. - All weather Duck Transparent Repair tape. Its better
than the usual waterproof sellotapes and similar as it is just a little
thicker. It also resists sunlight.

I bought some self-adhesive clear polyester tape for windsurfing sail
repairs, a sort of well 'ard Scellotape (sp?), and it's brilliant, sticks
like bob to a blanket.
I also use it for sticking to my bikes where cables rub and as chainstay
protectors.
There are no id marks on the reel but IIRC it's made by the same people as
Duck Tape and I bought it from B& Q or a similar type of DIYoutfit.
The reel is 50mm wide and perhaps 100mm dia.

You can get a weatherproofing clear tape from B&Q - probably in the area
where they keep draught excluder - brand name is Tesa IIRC - works a treat
and provided it's put on taught and the edges are "burnished" it stays on in
the wettest conditions (I've used it instead of a chain stay guard, just
wrapped it around a few times)

Helicopters are held up by the Jesus Nut, so called because if it fails,
you'll be meeting Jesus very quickly. It's the big nut that holds the main
rotor hub onto the mast.

Halfords used to do "all weather Sellotape", which is very good. Many
years ago I used some to stick the rear number plate onto a 4x4 Panda
(four pieces, all round the plate) and it held perfectly for over a
year, and was still holding perfectly when an idiot mechanic at a garage
I'd put the car into for a service decided to "drill some holes in the
tailgate and fix it properly" - I'd used the tape so as not to make any
holes in the tailgate so it wouldn't start to rust. ARRGHHH!!!!

But the tape was great.

There's also a shiny "sticky-back aluminium foil tape" you can get which
is good for burnishing down edges (so PVC tape with alu tape on the end
to ensure the edge can't rise).

Additional tape may spoil the effect, look naff, and I've not found it
necessary with the thin vinyl www.flashies.co.uk strips. It helps to
degrease the surfaces, keep bendage to a miniumum (so apply more
smaller/narrower stickers/cut them up, instead of wrapping larger ones
around curves), and press and hold down the stickers for ages (and leave
for a while then come back and press down again)--the adhesive goes on
getting stickier.

I found the stickers didn't take at all well to a matt Ti finish at first
in some places, but eventually stuck more than well enough (in fact
difficult to remove now).

I've now done several bikes (mostly with painted finishes), without any
need for extra tape.

Some narrow strips on back of seat stays are good, by the way, despite the
less than ideal angle. Head tube, too.

Sticking on nylon fabric bags is a different matter, though, as most glues
don't like it. I'd appreciate any tips on that. I've resorted to expoxy
resin.

In which case it's probably either the wrong type of reflective, or
you haven't cleaned the paint well enough beforehand.

I have used reflective tape from car shops on a Several of bicycles,
and lack of stickiness has not yet been a problem. I clean the
paintwork with surgical spirit before affixing the tape, and I always
do the job indoors to ensure both paint and glue is warm and dry at
the time of fixing.

In East Africa in my first wife's childhood, a helicopter was known as a
'whirly-go-up'.

I'm going to give these a go. I'm about out of stickers anyway, so was
gonna have to buy more from my usual source, and what with the price
