I see you still haven't got any reactions. I don't know
where you can download waypoints for the Pennine Way but I
can send some waypoints via this newsgroup to you that are
manually taken from the OS 1:250000 map. It's 'hard work'
off course but if you are interested just let me know.

Waypoints for the Pennine Way covers a lot of ground. What
points ecaxtly were you thinking of? Major junctions, pubs
and inns, YHA hostels, villages?

What format would you want them in? I'm not familiar with
Magellan's compatibility with Ozi which is what I use. I
have a rough track of about 500 points drawn from Edale to
Hartleyburn Common. It's not designed for navigation though,
rather to show The Way more clearly on the map, a bit like
the dashed green lines on OS 1:25k and as such it doesn't
always lie where it should.

I have the complete Pennine Way as an Anquet route so if you
have the Anquet software it can be downloaded to your GPS as
a route. Please let me know if you won't it as an

Thanks for the replies. I live in Canada. I have Magellan's
Mapsend Europe and I have the two volume National Trail
Guides for the Pennine Way. I read several accounts of
walking the route. From these I have tried to mark the towns
along the way using Mapsend. My digital map lacks many of
the smaller towns. I do not own Anquet or Ozi software. I do
have freeware EasyGPS and GPS Trackmaker.

I'm interested in major junctions and villages because we
will be tenting most of the way.

Gpsbabel ( gpsbabel.sourceforge.netgpsbabel.sourceforge.netOpen ↗ )should be able
to convert Ozi waypoints into ones that Mapsend can read.
You may be able to find some of your missing points using
the online OS maps on streetmap.co.uk or multimap.co.uk

Thank you Adrain, I'm using multimap to search for the towns
listed in the National Trail Guides. Multimap gives me the
coordinates for the towns. The online maps are similar to
the ones in the guide books. I can manually enter these
coordinates into my GPS. Jan
