  1. I know that this is *very* off topic but I'm hoping someone out there may be
    able to help !

My current mobile (Nokia 7610) has Real Player installed that allows me to
play videos. Does anyone know which program(s) are needed to encode a DVD
to a suitable format ? I've looked on the Real Player website and they
don't make any mention of which of the versions having this ability.

If possible I would like a free program :-) to download

    Any answers will gratefully received.

    Regards,

    Andrew B

I seem to remember using a free programme called "auto gordian knot" which
    converted dvd to mpeg4 (xvid).
www.videohelp.com is a place to get lots of info on converting video
    formats.

Sorry, can't help, but a question for you - just how the heck can anyone
watch a dvd on a mobile?

Try www.videohelp.com they have guides and info on most things to do
with video formats and conversion etc. I don't remember seeing
anything specific about mobiles but you could always ask on the forums
if you can't find what you want.

    Hi Andrew

I have the same phone and I'm afraid to say it's not worth it mate. Clips
over 10mins long lose sync really quickly and have huge on-screen artefacts.
In short it's really any good for stuff you record yourself and things up to
pop video length (though the sound is pooh).

    Regards

Has it large bells on top and a wind-up handle?

    I want one.
