Watch out for that flu bug. My first hint of a symptom was little tickle in the throat on Sunday night. By Monday morning I thought it was just another typical cold, but with chills and aching muscles by Monday evening I knew it wasn't a cold. Exhaustion hit Tuesday morning, and by Tuesday night it was fever and drenching sweats. Wednesday and Thursday was a repeat of Tuesday. By Friday the exhaustion, chills, sweats, running nose, sore throat were all gone and replaced with very sore back muscles. It's Saturday now and except for an occasional cough and recovering back, I'm almost back to normal. I just wish I hadn't passed it on to my wife, whose about 3 days behind my in symptoms.
I must have caught it the day after Thanksgiving while shopping at Horton Plaza (San Diego) or at the Barnes and Noble. (Oz: don't expect to see me tomorrow morning.)
Watch out for that flu bug. It will knock you down and set you back.

So you're telling me I'm screwed. Wife went home on Thursday, ended up with fever, etc as you described. I started have a mild sore throat late last night, cold symptoms etc. Today still mild but tired, ear aches etc...

On the contrary. The flu better watch out for me. I've got viruses and bacteria inside that will eat influenza like it's chips and salsa. It's the pasty jogger types that fall prey to these herd thinning nuisances
