New to the board and thought I would introduce myself.
My real name is Troy and I live in Southern Indiana with my wife of 14 years and our 2 children.
Before I was married I use to ride in centuries on a regular basis. Then somehow, marriage, children and work ook me away from the bike.
I now way about 90 lbs. more than I did when I rode and have multiple health problems.
I have decided to take my health back into MY control, not my illness'. I have always rode road bikes, but I found a good deal on a used MTB and changed over the tires. I wanted to make sure I could still ride before I sank an ungodly amount of money into it.
Well, I STILL CAN and I feel better than I have in years. I have lost 12 lbs. so far, also due to a better diet, and I put in about 1 1/2 hrs on the bike each day.
I plan on purchasing a new road bike over the winter and I am working on other goals I want to obtain this year and next. I would even like to start some minor racing if possible. I know I will never race as a pro, but I do have some realistic goals with my riding.
I really want to get back down to my old wght. or as close to it as I can. I am 6'-0" and was up to 282 lbs. I now weigh 270 and loosing steadily. I hope to get down to about 200 - 190.
Why "Metalleg" , well after years of Ice hockey and other activities at age 34 I had a Total Knee Replacement. All stainless steel and plastic. BTW, I have consulted with my orthopod and as long as I have a proper fit on the bike he see's nothing but benifits from my riding again.
Anyway, thats me... or some of me anyway.
Nice to meet you!!!😄
