I'm not sure you will save much by buying a second hand bottom
bracket.

Taper fitting Deore chainsets can be found for <£40.00, again why faff
about. If you buy secondhand with part worn rings a set of new rings will
cost more than £40!

As an example: Cycle Promotions were selling taper fitting non-Hollow Tech
XT chainsets for £45.00 at their one day sale in Leicester last Sunday.

Or if you want I can sell you an LX chainset complete with worn rings for a
tenner + postage, all you need to do is buy new rings for 20 quid each ;-)
