Wanted: Avid SD7 left brake arm

Lo and behold! I did the exact same thing to my right
side SD7 about 2 weeks ago. That leaves me with a
perfectly operational left side SD7 with no purpose but
to sit in the parts bin. I'd love to give it to a good
home. I never particularly cared for the levers and was
happy to upgrade to XT. I'll be happy to send it to you
for the price of shipping.

For both of you guys...

The SD7 has exposed spring arms. The arms are made of metal
and are bendable. If you want less tension, pull them into
the center of the bike past the yield stress. If you want
more tension (easier to do) pull them away from the center
of the bike. Adjust the other side to match, and voilá.

Actually, I should have read the OP a bit better. I didn't
strip the tension screw, but managed to strip the mounting
clamp bolt hole. Got stupid with a torque wrench. I received
some great suggestions on how to salvage it, but I never
liked 'em anyway so I went with the XT levers. Right side
can be salvaged with a bit of creativity, left side is 100%.

Thanks for the offer, but it seems like you're talking about
the Speed Dial levers... I need the actual V-brake left arm.

Until then I've just bent the tension wire and adjusted
the other arm tension to match... a good hack but not for
long term use.

Oops, more evidence that I need to read more closely. I
wasn't real sure what it was you had done. I was thinking
"lever" and not "arm" so I wasn't sure what tension screw
you were talking about. I didn't really care, I figured I'd
just send the good lever on to some one in need. Now it
makes sense. Sorry I can't give you the arm -- that's still
going strong. Good luck!
