  1. Anyone with a turbo trainer they don't need? I have been trying to buy one
off eBay for just over a month- and they are going for mental prices. I live
in the UK, and do have a budget, but folks, if you have one you don't use,
and want some money, PLEASE email me!

Sorry for the begging- but I do need one for training for a charity ride
    later in the year.

Thank you for taking some time to ride this.

Clocks change in a week or two. Take the bike outside, put it on the black
    stuff and ride.

    Much better.

Whilst I agree, work hours and family commitments mean that (until May time,
at least), I have only stolen hours late at night/ early mornings to train.
I am afraid that if I wait until May, then I wont be up to speed for the
ride at the end of August- 85 VERY hilly miles around North Devon.

Saying that, I got some miles in this morning, but it will be at least 2
weeks before I can get outside in the real stuff again, hence the plea.

Thank you anyway for the feedback!

Get on your bike and ride. It's glorious out, now; the spring flowers
are all coming through - we've got daffodils in the garden already -
and the buds are beginning to break. A lot cheaper and infinitely more
    pleasant than a turbo trainer.

Just a thought, how easy would it be for somebody of decent mechanical
skill to rig up a home-brew turbo trainer? All that would be needed
would be a stable method of raising the rear wheel off the ground, a
toe strap to clamp down the rear brake lever, and a vast supply of
    brake pads....

For the time limited, turbos have their uses. 40mins on a turbo
is a better work out than 40 mins on the road usually (no stops,
no cars, total control of power etc). It's also infinitely more
boring but sometimes beggars can't be chosers.
