  1. Looks like BMI is now thankfully out the window and waist and hips are in:

Obesity should be redefined to get accurate picture of heart-attack risk
Waist-to-hip ratio, not body mass index (BMI), is the best obesity
measure for assessing a person's risk of heart attack, conclude authors
of a study published this week. If obesity is redefined using
waist-to-hip ratio instead of BMI, the proportion of people at risk of
heart attack increases threefold. Heart-attack patients had a strikingly
higher waist-to-hip ratio than people in a control group, irrespective
    of other cardiovascular risk factors.

Seems to want subscription. So how does one find out where exactly to
measure? Or whether to hold the stomach in or push out? Or what is
a good or bad ratio (presumably very different for men and women)?

Get Firefox. Get the BugMeNot extension. Go to website, right click on
login box and select BugMeNot. Voila, instant access to the full article.

or read it more carefully. It requires /registration/ which is free.
Obviously it is probably worth getting firefox anyway but then I
imagine you (Nick) already have a sensible browser anyway)

Well I must be doing somethng wrong. I've registered but it's now saying
that I've got to pay for the article.

Except that the BugMeNot extension uses the database at
www.bugmenot.com, which seems to be no more. I'm assuming the extension
would no longer work - I always went to the website rather than
installing the extension. The extension also seems to be no longer
    available.

Hmm. I've tried it, and when I try to use the extension I just get
taken to the www.bugmenot.com, which displays a page showing "This web
site is parked free, courtesy of GoDaddy.com®". The site was working
    fine a few days ago.

If it's working for you, perhaps I just need to wait for a DNS table
    somewhere to be updated.

    I also like this new measure. BMI 32, BFP 26%, but 0.8ish w->h !!

if I feel myself sliding I could stop exercising my taught buns so they
sag my hip measurement up a bit. 🙂
