My caps lock was on and my "e" mysteriously got stuck.

V-brakes are almost all alike. The pad compound is what's
most important. The pivots should be smooth too.

Check to see if you can find Koolstop black or salmon pads -
I have had amazing performance with them, even in the wet! I
have the ritchey pads, but I haven't tried them yet.
