trying to put together an email list of specific types of people that they
can sell. Or use themselves to try and tailor their own coverage to get a
bigger readership. You comment about not giving them personal information
plainly shows that you believe that somehow your personal information will
be misused. Well, in a way I suppose you're right - you'd probably get
spammed but that's what keeps newspapers in business - advertising dollars.

If you think that the effort of clicking "spam" on that sort of email is too
hard perhaps you need more training.

Yes, they are in business. I choose to or not to pay a dollar
for a copy of the newspaper; to fill out or not to fill out a
registration form to read one of their articles.
