I suppose in motorsport terms they are intermediates - slick with small knobbly bits around the
outside for use roads as well as tracks, trails etc.

I ride on them. They are essentially slick tyres, with a bit of cosmetic patterning on the 3/4"-wide
central band, and some profiling on the sides which may or may not help with cornering on gravel.
They cope well with all-weather riding on towpaths or surfaced tracks but are basically happiest on
tarmac. Occasionally something gets through them: I've been punctured by thorns and most recently a
shard of flint, though road glass has never beaten them yet.

That's the MTB tyre, they also do a 700c hybrid tyre, slightly more expensive.

I just took it from Dawes' web site - they put these tyres on the Discovery 601.

You can get a fairly good look at them at Vredestein's website
vredestein.comfietsbandenOpen ↗ there's a nice picture but very little info. (all of which is
in Dutch). They're semi-slick and fairly heavy and robust - I guess I'd call them a touring tyre.

I ride 1.75 Vredestein Scarabs which have the same PRS puncture reduction system that the Spiders do
and I have to say that it's very good indeed. I was getting regular thorn punctures with my previous
Chen-Shin semis and I haven't had a single puncture in 1500miles riding the same country
roads/trails with the Scarabs.
