Part of the circle of care idea, how to get people to realise that someone they know is a cyclist?
Well my helmet's on my desk and I wear cycling shoes all the time (sensible ones that you can actually walk in!)
There are few in my place of work who don't know I ride, in fact I've been asked on more than one occaision a) how I lost my license and b) when am I going to learn to drive.
I strongly suspect I am the best driver at my work. I am certainly the only person there to have raced. To have driven a truck for a living, to have driven a large truck (admittedly I dont have that licence. ) To have driven a car with a caravan and a main battle tank. To have driven a preselector gearbox, a fork lift, a 300 kph honda (on the thunderdome) a large bulldozer, a twin engined backhoe etc etc
And I am the only person at work to have driven well over 2 million kilometeres.
As I said I havnt all the licences. But I can drive pretty much anything. And weirdly I still have a licence. Once in a while I turn up in some car just to keep em guessing. SOmetimes something weird. Its all good fun. Everyone at work knows I ride from choice. I do womder tho if oneday one of the student teachers will make the same assumption Euan, It really is sort of sad 🙂

People see me wheeling the bent into the break room where it lives, so that's helpful, but once I've changed out of cycling kit most people wouldn't know I am a rider.

Pretty difficult in business casual to get away with wearing knicks... the good news is that cyclists are just about the majority in our part of the office (!) I know I was surprised when I joined the firm. 🙂
Yes. I need a good pair of trouser clips, they are the ultimate badge of commuterdom. But I can't seem to find them at any LBS.
Any ideas where I can get them in Melbourne or on-line?
You know I haven't seen a pair of bike clips for years. They used to be easily available....
The modern equivalent seems to be the LED equipped reflective velcro fastened bands. Not the same really.
No, not the same. I want the sort that John Cleese or Michael Palin used to wear for my 'cycling tour of North Cornwall' 🙂 But seriously, I find the velcro straps (have some) a fiddly muck-around. Any ideas of a source for the real clips?

You are kidding!! What the f#&k? My own LBS! D'oh, I really haven't been paying attention. Will drop in sometime next week and say g'day.
Well while this doesn't apply on a daya to day out-in-public basis, absolutely *everyone* at work knows that I cycle. They don't usually see me, but it gets thrown into conversation. It means I'm the cycling freak at work, but it does raise awareness of cycling with people in the office.
Simple - wear bike jewelry. Several years ago I made a swish necklace from a old pedal bearing ball cage linked to a ball chain necklace. Tres kewl.
