I am pouting because the Atlanta Viking Cooking School will be hosting Michael Ruhlman on a night I have to work and I won't be able to go. I've never attended a program there and wondered if anyone here has taking any of their programs? Enjoy it? Find it a good value for the cost? There are 11 Viking Cooking Schools around the country.

Yeah, it was up there this weekend. Bourdain did the intro to the book, I think.
I do like Ruhlman so much. Have you read any of his books? I have his Chef series, and the cookbook he did with Eric Ripert, and the Bouchon cookbook. The first one he did with Thomas Keller is on my list too, but I doubt I will cook much from it, if I get it: The French Laundry Cookbook. Bouchon seems much more approachable to me.

Do you know how hard it is for a nurse to get a night off?????? LOL. I am trying to find someone to trade with for a night when an old long lost friend is coming into town... Fat Chance!! Nurses can't just say they aren't coming in, unless they are sick... There has to be someone to cover for them...ie, another nurse to take their place. And one with the same skill set.

Yeah, I'm considering how I could swing it?? It does sound like a great night to be there. We self schedule at work so I certainly would not have signed up to work that night had I but known enough in advance of his program. I have now signed up for email updates from Viking so perhaps I won't be behind the eight ball again.....

Thankfully I work with a great group of nurses and we cover for each other readily enough. I was thinking of asking one of the day shifters if I did their 7 AM to 12 PM hours, they could come in at noon and stay till 12 AM for me and then I'd be able to go to the program as well as work. We don't have to bother management with the details and it works nicely as then people aren't just calling off (we don't have to give a reason when we call in and say we won't be able to work) when they know they have something else going on.
