and are donating the old ones early. During that time we are having
the house wired with optical cable, as the cable used during
construction was sub- standard.
I cannot access Usenet from work, but if anyone wishes to email me,
replace cox.net with gmail.com. I can view that from anywhere.
Thanks folks!
Fiber in a house? How interesting - when you say cable used during
construction are you referring to coaxial cable? I just did a job where
I used double shielded RG-6U and it worked just fine for HD television.
Yes, it was coax, and it was poor quality. I didn't select the cable
myself. If I had it would have saved me a lot of trouble and money.
The company running the fiber specializes in computer and digital A/V
installations, and has done work for the company I work for. We're running
extra lines through existing raceways and they recommended it for its
flexibility, as well as less susceptibility to deterioration where it will
be run in a crawspace under the house. Another advantage, assuming we live
here a very long time, it that it's unlikely we'll ever outpace the cabling
with advancements in hardware.
