....or at least I don't recall having one for more than 15 years. No
drinking problem in our house, but I can't say that for some of the
relatives. But we don't live anywhere near the relatives now.
We keep a large assortment of alcohol in the pantry. I use it in
cooking/baking and to serve to guests.
Friday is traditionally homemade pizza night in our house, but this was a
particularly harrowing day at work and I was rummaging through the pantry
for a possible alternative.
For whatever reason my eyes focused on a bottle of Myer's Plantation Rum
and I immediately recalled having several cans of Coke with lime in the
fridge and half a dozen limes in a bowl that I bought for a Key Lime Pie.
Hmm... A rum and coke might be nice. After all, it's 105°F. outside.
Geez, whatever made me think of all that?!?
I didn't hesitate to pull out all the ingredients, along with a generous
double old-fashioned glass. I packed the glass with cracked ice and poured
the drink.
Sipping on it now, it's relaxing and tasty and I'll probably have one more.
I probably won't have another after that for another 15 years.
It's still going to be pizza tonight and I'll enjoy making it.
Thanks for listening...
