No, silly. I was just playing off the idiotic comment by the OP, who
wrote, "Hunters just kill them because they love bloodshed." I'm not
anti hunting at all. The deer would starve to death if they weren't
hunted. I don't hunt myself, but that will change--hopefully very
temporarily--several years from now when I teach my son how to hunt
and clean squirrels. All kids deserve to have the experience, and I
don't know anyone else who hunts other than my brother-in-law and
nephew, and they hunt duck exactly once a year, and that's it.

Right now (like right this moment) there's easily a ton of carrot-fed

can with a string trimmer. Yep, they arrive every day at dusk for
their carrots.

This is a picture I've posted previously. Still makes me mad. Died in our
yard, we hauled it off. [censored]!

The Hub has a friend who is a bow and arrow hunter. This is a guy who
is very serious about it and feeds his family well with what he bags.
He practices and practices and will not let go an arrow on a hunt
unless he is positive it will fly true. A buddy of his used his blind
to go after a buck they both had an interest in and the buddy only
wounded the animal and could not track it. The Hub's friend was
furious at the incompetence and waste.

I don't mind anyone hunting (if done safely) and hopefully it can be put on

I hate venison. I have not eaten it in easily 37 years now. When I was a
kid growing up in rural New Hampshire venison was everywhere. Everyone
killed deer. Every house had deer trophies, deerskin rugs, deerskin boots,
antler hat racks etc. Holidays featured huge venison roasts. I never ate
turkey for Thanksgiving until we moved to California. We ate venison
sausages in my grade school cafeteria. I never liked the taste.
Trichinosis was a serious health problem in our little town. But they
killed of all the deer's natural predators which was the real problem. So
deer populations exploded and became a huge problem. Hunting was only one
solution. OK, so I hate hunting but if a wolf didn't kill a deer, then a
hunter would. Seemed a quicker way to die usually. People killed deer all
year round, there was no season in rural NH at the time.

But as far as the flavor goes, it is just really awful. To me it tastes
like sour [censored]. Not that I drink sour [censored] but I can imagine how it would
taste.

I've heard of it. Never knew anyone who actually did it. But some people
just want that head with a full rack hanging on their wall. Doesn't make
sense to me. My ex, Ray, was a bow hunter. He always had the meat cut and
often gave me venison steaks and the occasional venison roast.

Try using a dictionary for the etymology of venison. You've
obviously never had it cooked properly and it is a very low-fat
meat.

The only thing that quasi-worked on keeping the deer out of the garden was
when Boy#2 took to piddling in the garden. He had overheard some older
gents talking in Home Depot about 'marking territory' and that deer
respected it. It [censored] the neighbor who has three girls (all older
than his 5 years at the time) and she demanded I make him stop, to told her
to tell her girls not to look if it bothered them. The deer population
seemed to avoid the garden whenever he 'went' so I guess it worked,
somewhat.
