I'm looking to start up on the South Beach Diet and have a question
regarding breakfast. Many of his menus for breakfast include vegetable
juice as the main beverage, I really don't like VJ so am looking to swap it
for something else. I know I don't need to follow his menus to the letter,
actually I'm probably going to pick one or two of them like the egg cups and
such that I can make up beforehand for convenience, but I'm wondering if the
VJ is there for a specific reason or just to be substitute for other more
damaging beverages like milk and such. My beverage of choice is diet
caffeine free cola, yes even for breakfast and according to the book as long
as its 'caffeine free' it should be alright to drink so unless the VJ is
there for a major nutritional reason I'm going to replace it with CFDC.
While I'm asking questions here's another. Has anyone gone through the diet
using a limited number of different items for breakfast, snack, lunch and
snack without getting bored? I'm a creature of habit and generally stay
with one or two types of breakfast, lunch and snack items during the week,
while at work, and was thinking of designing my meals and snacks around 1 or
2 items from each of the areas and just sticking to them instead of bouncing
around different menus every day. Right now I've been eating the same or
similar breakfast, snack and lunch for quite a while and don't have a
problem with the monotony. I may make a minor change now and again but am
quite satisfied with the lack of variety, while I'm at work that is.
Weekends and dinner on the other hand I'm planning on using different
recipes allot since that's when I tend to graze and I'm afraid that if I try
to keep the same as the weekdays I'll be off the wagon in no time. Has
anyone tried the diet like this?? Any problems??
Thanks in advance.
