In fact, you only find out at the moment of death.

Mine will go on beating in someone else's body if I meet an early, non
cardiac related demise. -
Mental illness is not joke.
That said, I don't have much sympathy for this guy -- he put himself
in a situation where the illness could take hold.

****************************Right. The public is only supposed to show sympathy when they're
actually dead, until then, it does its best to destroy them.-ilan

but I've got a little now. Pantani I have almost no sympathy for.Sorry if that sounds cold, but while I love VdBs style on the bike, I
don't like how selfish the guy has been.

It really is a shame when anyone ends up feeling so horrible they see death as the
better option. Whether one likes the guy or not, you really have to hope that he can
work through it. Regarding Benjo's statement that this didn't have much to do with
cycling - I think that being in an environment like cycling that is so public and
'results' oriented can't have helped a guy who seemed to be filled with self doubts
like VdB.--

Seems a bit harsh. He's probably not too happy with the situation
either, and there's more to a person than a bike.R

I am with you brother!
There are sooooo many more people in this world more deserving of
sympathy than those two characters. For whatever reason, the great
mass of people in the bike racing fanbase don't see it that way.Did either one of those guys ever do anything to help anyone other
than themselves?thanks,
K. Gringioni.

inner torment that a guy who attempts suicide suffers whether or not
one likes the guy. -

Cycling is entertainment, and both those guys were entertainers.
