I've got a cheapo plastic track pump with a dodgy valve connector. It only takes a Schraeder valve (the pump came with an annoying screw-on Presta-Schraeder adapter) but it's so worn that above 60 psi I fight a losing battle to force air in before it all leaks out.
Cheap and plastic as it is, the rest of the pump works fine so if possible I'd like to repair it. Does anyone know of a valve connector I could fit to the hose if I cut off the old one? One that natively takes a Presta valve would be a double bonus!

I've got the Argos steel 8.99 one; works a treat but has the adaptor you speak of; would be surprised if you can get a connector for much less. The screw on Presta / Schrader adaptor although a PITA actually seems to seal better than a dedicated Presta one, no problem getting 110 psi.

You'd probably be better off doing that (replacing the head) but I have an unused adapter that you could have FOC in the meantime if you like -- email p [at] biggs [dot] tc.
Sorry I can't recommend a head because I've not been totally happy with /any/ I've used in the long run. In other words, I need recommendations myself :-)
Apologies to the group for previously recommending Topeak Smarthead. Something in mine recently went pop so I now think it's rubbish.

Excellent, thanks!

Hm, that's a shame. I've also got a Trek track pump (a proper metal one) somewhere but that has a knackered rubbery bit inside it. Perhaps I can repair that one or somehow bodge the two together.

I've got the Topeak Twinhead that's standard on the JoeBlow and not had any problems with it that weren't corrected by a second attempt.
A recent faff with someone else's Specialized universal head left me /not/ wanting one of those, we gave up in the end...

My Spesh Universal is so far excellent, but as it never gets used on shraeders perhaps it never gets stretched.

It was a Schraeder that was giving the one I saw a Hard Time. Well, sample base of 1 so that proves it conclusively! ;-/

I bought a Twinhead head--not happy with that either. A second (sometimes third) attempt is needed too often with mine. I'd like something as good as the chuck on Zefal's HPX hand pump. Wonder what Zefal's track pump heads are like?

I scrapped a rubbishy zéfal rush earlier this year. Friend with same has scrapped his. Disrecommended.
