  1. Does anyone have pain in there tailbone after riding? My tailbone is actually sore after a
long ride. Could it be the seat cushion wearing out? I have about 7500 miles on the original
    seat cushion.

It's no real big thing compared to the pain you would get on an upright but if there's a fix I might
    as well take it.

    Thanks for any input.

    Me too on my V2.

My wife bought a 2001 V2, which I rode 40 miles with no pain, and fell in love with. So I bought a
new 2003 V2, which I do find to a pain in the ass (literally of course).

On comparing the two V2s I find that on the older RANS seat the seat pan was a bit further back,
almost under the mesh. If you run your hand down the mesh to the seat back you find that your
tailbone is positioned well within the seat pad.

On my newer V2 the seat pan it further forward. Now if you run your hand down the seat back mesh to
the seat pad you line up with the back edge of the seat, right on top of the rear bar. Which seems
really stupid. I was beginning to wonder if I had spent $1800 on a bike I couldn't ride more than 30
    miles at a time.

What I have found as a cure is to add the lumbar seat cushion that the Hostelle Shoppe sells. This
positions my tush further forward so that the tailbone is over the seat pad, and not the rear seat
pan bar. That, and reclining the seat to get more weight on my back.

The seat is still not as comfortable for me as my Vision, but it doesn't bother me anymore.

There have been many discussions about this, with most refering to the "old" vs "new" foam used.
Most prefering the old foam. FWIW

I remember the discussions, but I sure don't see any difference in the 2003 vs 2001 foam, or if
there is, it's slight. The position of the seatpan is quite a bit different, however.

  5. I have found that the seat on my Giro is laid out the same, my butt contacts the rear lip of the
seat pan. Don't really want to add squishy foam to a mesh seat back and lose power to the pedals.
Anyone had a different solution? Thanks.

I had this happen on my 2000 Rocket after riding it for a few months. The cause I was sitting
too far back on the seat base, and the cure was to re-tension the seat back fabric to its
    original tautness.

    Hi Dan,

I'm guessing the soreness recently developed. You haven't been riding 7500 miles in pain have you.
🙂 Have you changed the seat back angle lately? I have a V2 and have used the third hole down on
the seat stay for most of my 10,000 miles, and never had a problem. I've recently removed the
fairing, gone to the new light weight seat cushion, and fully reclined the seat. Still no
problems. Usually "recumbent butt" happens with the more closed seating positions. Let us know
what you discover. BTW, the newer seat cushion is about 13 onces lighter, and my comfort level
hasn't changed over the bigger cushion. Maybe I have enough padding. : ) Regards, Greg Dorfmeier,

    Hi,

I had a similar problem with my V2 when I bought it this spring. I went to a carpet store and got a
scrap piece of their best foam padding and put some of it under the seat cushion and also cut some
to fit in the back of the seat to give additional lumbar support and also to prevent my tailbone
from hitting, since then no problems and VERY comfortable.

Best of luck, it's a great bike!!!

You could try tilting the seat back a bit further back... I found this helped with discomfort although it was on a different type odf bent.

I really enjoy the Sweet Seat [sp?] on my BikeE. About six inches of cushioning foam wrapped with
black nylon-type mesh. Neither nut nor butt fatigue.

The BikeE Sweet Seat was the worst seat I ever had the misfortune to sit upon. I only lasted 15
minutes and then it was let me off of this dang thing. Trust me on this - if you are comfy on the
BikeE seat then you will be comfy on any seat ever devised for any recumbent ever made.

A CT was my first bent. Never had a complaint about the seat, though my longest ride at that time
was probably an hour or so.
