"S*ldenafil causes pulmonary vasodilation, thus potentially reducing
impairments of hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension on exercise
    performance at altitude."

    and also http://www.physorg.com/news70203221.html

"S*ldenafil (V*agra) significantly improved the cardiovascular and
exercise performance measures of trained cyclists at high altitude,
mostly because the drug helped some participants improve a lot -- up to
45% -- while others showed little change. Sildenafil provided no
    benefit at sea level. "

"Ten cyclists who took sildenafil at altitude collectively lowered the
time it took to cover six kilometers by 15% compared to placebo trials
at altitude. The cyclists also significantly improved stroke volume
(the volume of blood moved out of one ventricle of the heart per beat)
and cardiac output (stroke volume times heart rate) compared to the
placebo trial. Sildenafil also minimized the decline of arterial oxygen
saturation of the arteries when the cyclists were at simulated altitude
    of 12,700 feet."

  2. Sounds like a hypothesis you'd come up with at a pub on Friday after a few too many lagers. Scary that they would follow through. I hope they offered counselling to the lab rats afterwards (or a cold shower).

    Were these all male?
Bet you that all went around the corner and gasped for breath afterwards!
Did the placebo group also get subtle sex inducements as well?
Its marvellous how ell some blokes perform if they think they are gunna
get it. Even a wiff works wonders.

Bit difficult to do a double blind placebo on that experiment.

No, I think the problem was that they found tight knicks and hard
saddles are *massively* uncomfortable after a dose of viagra, and they
thought "gotta finish this ride so I can fix the problem!"

I certainly hope they weren't wearing white knicks!

Did they pull up a bit stiff?

I always carry a bit around in my spares kit.

Flat tyre? No worries, just slip it some viagra and it stays hard for hours.
