The thinking may be 1) He's not going to be able to help Armstrong where he
really needs it (mountains), and 2) He'll need to take a break and get ready
for the second half of the world cup.

If Postal was interested in getting stage wins, I think you'd be right in
including him.

Um, Max is Dutch (Netherlands), but does and has lived just across
the border inside Belgium. Most of his training rides are back into
Holland.

Pavel will be selected for the Tour. The fact that you hear so little
about him, and from him, makes it easy to overlook how very important
he is. He is the one that rides tempo all day after the break of the
day goes up 10 minutes. He doesn't always need to bring it back, just
ride as fast as the escapers for 150k, until the other 7 Posties, or a
sprinters team decides to finish the chase. Either way, the guy is a
fxxking locomotive.

Remember how Lance is on the front less than 3% of the Tour de
France? TT and Mountain finishes combined. Pavel is on the front of
the peloton for 55-60% of the race (time and distance).

I thought Jan would be a even challenge to Lance. I know have revised
my estimate, and don't discount Jan as second, but give Lance a 75%
chance of winning his 6th Tour this year. Perhaps Jan will take his #2
victory in 2005, as Lance takes 7th wearing Berry Floor/AMD colors.

the same as Pavel's. They can't all be climbers.

You have it right -- those will be the exact 8 support riders,
barring any mishap between now and July 3. Noval is 2nd string
on a team like that.
