Using a barbag with shimano STI levers

I've got a Topeak TourGuide bar bag on my tourer and it doesn't cause
any trouble with the cables from the STIs. Let me know if you'd like
to see a pic of the setup.

I've heard of people using V-brake noodles to route the cables.

I have Ultegra STI's and an Ortlieb bar bag and don't have any problems
at all,well except that the levers can't make a "three shift swing" as
the bag is in the way but I think that will happen no matter what you
do.Doesn't pose a problem as far as I am concerned.

I don't have any problems either, as I have one bar bag with three sets
of fittings - two on bikes with downtube shifters and the third on a
stem which allows me to use the bar bag as a saddle bag.

The other option is to get a narrow bar bag - is there a standard sized bar
bag?. One of the monthly comics suggested the soultion and also mention the
expensive cable option. I made the mistake of buying a bar bag and finding
that the STIs got in the way. It also wasn't a good fit on the Galaxy but
is ideal on my Trek mountain bike. I now use a Carradice saddlebag and am
more than pleased with the storage and access facilities.

I've used a Carradice super c bar bag for years.
Just pulled the cables forward across the front of the bag.
They then have a curve as they leave the levers but it's never caused me any
problems.
I don't notice any difference in the changing whether the bag's on or not.

The Topeak Tourguide barbag works with STI levers on my bike.

An alternative would be to get one with a Rixen and Kaul fitting and
use the extender bracket.

I recently purchased an Ortlieb Ultra 3 Lightweight Bar Bag. This connects
to the bars either side of the stem via a stand-off bracket (can provide a
picture if helpful). This gives plenty of clearance to operate the XTR STIs
on my MTB and allows me to continue to pollute the bar space with computer,
HRM mount etc.

I've used an Altura Arran bar bag for a year or so now. I was worried
about the STI at first, but in fact it has been fine. I can't make use
of the full movement range of the levers, but have enough space to
change gear. The only problem is if I put something hard in the mesh
side pockets that gets in the way of the levers...
