Quoted message said:I noticed today that US Postal is not sending a paticularly strong
lineup to the Vuelta. While USPS is sending Beltran it is not sending
Jose Azevido. Now these are all good riders. But I think US Postal has
already accepted the fact that it does not have a top contender if
Lance does not enter Vuelta. Another factor to consider is that
Beltran did not ride as strong a tour as last years.
Vuelta, USPS will have:
Manuel Beltran and
Floyd Landis in the front line along with
sprinter Max van Heeswijk
Michael Barry
Antonio Cruz,
Benoît Joachim,
Guennadi Mikhailov,
Victor Hugo Peña
Dave Zabriskie.
Excuse me, but [censored]!
Beltran is a strong possibility and if he's in shape he's already proven
that he's faster overall than Heras who has won twice.
While I agree that it is a bit strange that Azevedo isn't going to be
kicking everyone's ass in the Vuelta maybe he got offered more money
elsewhere? Say to ride in the T-mobile SF GP?
I agree that the team is probably going to be weak but not because the
riders are weak but because they haven't trained for the Vuelta.
Watch Max win at least one stage. Floyd will probably be a GC contender
though I think top 10 more likely.
Victor Hugo Peña could win a TT if he's in the right frame of mind and body.
