  1. An update. I have booked a table at the Backstage Bistro for 7 people
(Still waiting to hear from Mark), but there are a few potential issues.
They have a large party arriving at 8:00 so will need us to be clear by
7:30. Thus the table is booked for 17:30. This is quite early and may
not allow enough time for a ride. I will probably have a look for
alternatives this evening and see if I can find one that would allow us
to eat a little later (Unless everyone is happy with these
    arrangements).

A little later does sounds better.
And another update: this morning's mail brought a flyer from EBC telling
us that the sale starts on Saturday 🙂

Yesterday's mail told us that the Biketrax sale starts on Saturday too.
Looks like some ritual bargain hunting may be called for!

Sounds good. I'll be along, probably with #1 on giraff..

What about a lap or two of holyrood park? Then those that want to ride round
faster can catch up with the rest..

Same here. A mass descent on EBC seems called for. One thing is, if
we're concerned about riding time, maybe we should meet at 1pm instead
of 2pm? Would that inconvenience anyone?

As I too am interested in descending upon EBC, I'll probably head into town
before lunch, do EBC, then find some lunch and then return to the meet.

If you see a short bearded bloke with a young girl on a trailer bike, it
    could well be me..

Depending on where people end up, I can join the group by about 13:30.
I'm now getting pretty good at the mad sprint up Leith Walk on the bent
so that shouldn't be a problem. I'll still try and find a better choice
of restaurant though, I'd be aiming for a 18:30 - 19:00 table without
quite such a restriction. The guy was very apologetic, but his
restaurant is being taken over completely by one party from 20:00!

    Jon

P.S. I just noticed my appalling mix of 12hr and 24hr times earlier.
Apologies to anyone who got confused.

Is that a man with a short beard, or a short man with a beard? I doubt
that there will be any confusion but it's best to be sure!

Both. I still look pretty much like my photo at bikereader.com and will be
    riding the same MTB.

OK. Another update. We have a new reservation at Parrots in Bruntsfield
at 18:30 with no real restriction on time. Menu is huge and varied (So
should cover most tastes) and reasonably priced. This gives us a little
    more play time! ;-)

    Top!

It was one of my haunts of choice back in '89 and it's been a few years
since I ate there last, but if their Chocolate Jungle Cake is still
going strong then that's my dessert order sorted! :-)

I almost ate there for the first time just a few moths ago, but ended
    up at Chez Jacques instead

Been meaning to eat there for a while!

Riding at night with your mouth open?

I envy you Edinburgh - I love the place, and I've not been there for
years. I remember a lunch at Pierre Victoire yonks ago, which lasted
for five hours: food bill was a fiver each, drinks came to about fifty
pounds or so for two of us. Happy days!

  18. I said I would bring my unicycle to the meeting but I must apologise as I
can't. I thought I could fit it on the rack of the Windcheetah. I must have
been daft to even think it would.

    Sorry :-(

Can't you just fit it as some sort of 4th wheel...?

We almost had a train fiasco today.... after realising that we hadn't
booked the bikes on the train yet Pete called. First some confusion about
the planned train not being GNER (I bought a GNER supersaver online
earlier this week). Then, when trying to book 3 bikes the answer that
there were only 2 spaces. When trying to book these the answer that they
couldn't book any more bikes. Bit of panic.
Another call to GNER to book the earlier train. Turns out they can't book
bikes for tickets that have been bought online, you have to go to the
sttaion for that. Pete down to the station after work, turns out there
were places on the planned train after all (as expected, as GNER doesn't
have the 2 bike limit that Scotrail has).

End of story, we're on the 11:06 train with 1 Fiero, one Streetmachine and
one old tourer to drop of.
If the weather is nice, the wind still from the right direction, and my
works/study stress under control we may ride back to Dundee on Sunday.

    Roos
