Upshift under load

Thanks, Sheldon. I knew that it had to do with frame flex, but... The other wheel didn't have this
problem, so I suspect that it's not friction in the cable guide. I will verify this, though, and
make sure that the cable is passing through the guide correctly. I'll also add a spot of grease for
good measure!

Nope, though this might be influenced by the lower limit screw. Remember, I'm in the bottom gear, so
upper limit screw should be irrelevant. I've tried more tension, but it didn't seem to make a
difference, except to screw up the shifting elsewhere.

I missed the original part of this post, but I think I know what's going on here. "Autoshifting"
when you've got an older system (downtube levers, etc.) is often due to cable friction problems.
Assuming your levers aren't slipping and your upper/lower limits are adjusted properly. Check your
shifter cables -- especially where they go around the bottom bracket, or through the cable housing
loop at the back. Any dirt or grit or rust can cause this problem. Clean and lube. This has happened
to me a few times, and cleaning/lubing cables usually cures it.

Not to be so picky, but I think grease is not a good idea. Dirt, dust, small pebbles, dead bugs,
etc. can collect on it over time. You could try a dry lube like spray silicone, or maybe chain wax.
