If it is the plate, just remember to say, before the drugs knock you out "I don't want none of them [censored] steel plates and screws. I want carbon. If I can't have carbon, I want titanium..ium..ium......"

And if you think bike parts and tools are expensive, you should see the cost of the stainless screws, nuts and bolts the orthopods use and the cost of the special screwdrivers, nutdrivers etc. Makes Park Tools look like bargains.

Dunno, but you gotta ask, given the cause of the damage. Unless they could guarantee that the steel in the plate and pins was Eye-talian steel?😄

    Tim,

just had a look in the parts box at work - knee joints are only made out of Cobalt-Chrome alloys and Ultrahigh Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) although there are also some having a ceramic femoral component (Zirconium oxide and alumina oxide) although these are not very common.

Not yet but there are some really trick ceramic ones around. There are
also some CF external frames that they were trialing. (CF is an organic
compound, that might have something to do with the lack of internals but
    I don't know)

    Cheers

Only a cyclist could specifically WANT Italian steel. Althought they may
well have improved in the last 20 years.

How did you go?. I thought I saw something about surgery in another
post and I was hoping that wasn't gonna happen. Still more pain meds.

Hope you recover quickly either way.
