i've heard those being called a variety of names
the variety normally increases as the unsucesfull attempts at riding one
increases...

mostly i think they're called two-wheelers altho 'two-wheeled giraffe'
might fly as well

If a cycle has two wheels, there are basically three options for their
relative location:

A. one front, one rear: bicycle, or bike
B. one left, one right: dicycle
C. one top, one bottom as in the present question:
* two-wheeler (245)
* two-wheeled unicycle (65)
* double wheeler (16)
* stacked uni (6)
* two-wheeled uni (6)
* two-wheeled giraffe (4)
* stacked unicycle (2)

The numbers in between brackets are the number of hits Google reports.
Note that Google doesn't distinguish between a dash (-)and a space ( )
between two words. The spelling chosen in the above list is the most
common, I think.

There are possibly more names for such a thing but these are the ones I
could think of.

I had never heard that until this afternoon (it's 5 pm here), when I
read that possible name on your website describing your two-wheeler
riding. But imagine what happens if you search for the word "twice". I

Well I think so... Andy came up with "inverticycle", for some unknown
reason. Myself, I use of the three at the top of your list. inverticycle
doesn't appear on google at all.

I think i'm going to look like a bit of a pillock when I let you know
what i was INSISTING on calling it... Doesn't appear on any google
search, even with different spellings. Think i may have invented a new
word...

BTW I had a go on it @ Bradford and its impossible to ride!

Those have been known best by calling them
double wheelers.

Gilby is the best rider I have ever seen riding one. Ken Fuch and Connie
Cotter have impressed me
as well as far back as 1987 on them.

There are also triple wheelers and as many as 13
wheelers have been made and ridden.

I have a penta (five) wheeler. Even with it's small 12" wheels, it's
still 7 feet tall.

The Monkees did have something that looked like that but it would have
to be at least 40 years
old to be like theirs.

The ones they rode had a mag wheel. I have some
cards (like baseball cards) with pictures of the Monkees riding them.

The pedals were on the big wheel like a tricycle.
The little wheels were out back on the ones they rode.

There is also a Skate-Bike that looks like that as well. The difference
is that the skate bike rides in the other direction. The rider sits over
the bike wheel on the back and the skateboard trucks/wheels are out
front. The pedals would be between the bike wheel and skateboard wheels
mounted in a bottom bracket like a bicycle.

They were sold by many different companies under many different names.
Some had hand brakes, some had coaster brakes. At the trade shows they
even had videos of riders doing neat stuff on them.
They never did take off like the aluminum folding scooters did a few
years ago.

They cleared them out at Big Lots 10 years ago for 10.00 or less when
they couldn't sell them anymore.

If you can post another clearer brighter picture of yours, that would be
cool.

It has also been callede an oxymorocycle, since a two-wheeled unicycle
is something of an oxymoron.
I prefer biverticycle.

Darren,

I've not seen the Monkeys' picture, although I'd like to. The unit we
have is pretty old, but I'm not sure exactly how old it is. The seller
years ago told us that he had it in his attic for years and also had
parts to another one.

I'm familiar with the other unit you mentioned, a popular brand is
LeRun. I've sat briefly on one but it complained so I got off. The
boys have ridden them with limited success. They are cute to look at at
first but they quickly go into hibernation in the backs of garages for
lack of functionability.

I'll try to get a couple pictures of our Uni-skate and post them here.
