Unicycle.com Logo Change?

their logo isn't bad, but it's kinda juvenile.... in my not so humble
opinion. and I liked the black and white bumper stickers better than the
new color ones.
so yes, they should change.

I'd say their font choice and overall logo appearance reinforce their
level of attention to detail and quality. As a result, the logo speaks
to the brand, which is really all you can ask of a logo.

The logo is fine. It is bright, colorful and simple. Unicycles are
simple. Unicycles are simple in design anyway, not necessarily simple to
ride.
However, I'm not so sure I would like the logo embroidered on the back
of my seat.

I agree with al ot of the things said . the stickers shouldnt be
impossible to remove and the should be toned downa bit. Besides if some
one is that interested in a unicycle that they saw passing by they
probably can figure out unicycle.com or at least google it.

Yeah like you said burnitalltwice as soon as someone gets interested in
unicyclign the first website they will visit is unicycle.com - even if
they've never heard of it they are most likely to try that first (I know
I did).
I just think the logo could be spruced up a bit to look a bit more
modern and not so...childish. Obviously the unicycle market has a wide
age-group so I understand something that appeals to kids (and parents)
is needed - but I think with a bit of time and care a logo could be
created that entices all age groups.

I like it too. And there's nothing quite like riding a bike in a bike
race and passing someone with a cutesie little Unicycle.com logo on your
shirt. I know I'll definitely be racing a MTB at this yrs 24hr

I dont mind the logo, but the first thing I did was take every sticker
off my unicycle. Maybe if it was a die cut sticker that added to the
look of the uni I would have kept it, but a big white postage stamp
sticker didnt do it for me. Printing the sticker on CLEAR vinyl would
REALLY HELP!

I did recieve a couple of KH shirts for my birthday, and the logo was in
black, very small, and very stylish. I was fine with that.

I do get alot of DUNT DUNT DUNNA DUNNA clown music as I ride from people
on the street, and having a multi color logo in a simple childs font
doesnt help the situation. If it was in black or all gray or something,
it wouldnt be as bad.

If you cant read, having a multi color logo doesnt help. If you can
read color shouldnt matter!

Hmmm. After those great suggestions in the first part of your post
(some of the best suggestions so far), your last part doesn't fit.

If you can't read, the shape and color of your logo are mor important
than what it says. Being a kid-friendly logo, that could even be a
component of its design, though I doubt anyone worries much about
illetrate customers when doing logo design.

For the rest of us, saying color doesn't matter denies the whole
multi-billion dollar (just in the U.S.) advertising/marketing industry.
Color matters a lot. Ever see a black & white Coca-Cola logo? Never,
except in b&w-only media. Would the UPS logo look "right" on any color
background besides brown?

So the multi-color Unicycle.com logo is intentionally a kid-friendly
design. This is good, because it aims at the core market for the
company. Now it might be nice to have an adult-friendly logo as well;
something more serious and "cool." But then it gets a lot more
complicated to figure out which one to use where.

So I like the multi-color logo for is basic simplicity. It says easy, it
says fun, it says lightheartedness. It also says kids. I think the
biggest downside of that logo, for me, is it also suggests circus. Hmmm.
This probably still fits with the target market of new unicycle buyers,
but if we're lucky, this common perception of unicycles will continue to
change in the coming years.

Ah, but with some attention to detail (i.e. consulting the client on
which product to use for their age/skill/ambition) they could determine
WHICH customers to send their "kiddy" logo, and which customers to send
the cool (I like the pic of the unicycle and . com version) one.

Another thing we are overlooking:
Even young children want to be "cool." Only "out of touch" or
"fantasizing" parents slap baby colors on an 8 year old.

I think if the children were on this forum and could vote, the poll
results would not be any different.

Good point John... I keep forgetting that color does matter. I am about
as color blind as it gets! So that custom UPS green doesnt mean a whole
lot to me, but I guess if you see colors, you would pick that green out
a mile away, and think "wow" thats UPS!

Kids really are fashion aware now. My nine year old son would be caught
dead in the wrong shoes!

I think company logos often "date" a company, and it is very difficult
to keep a fresh look. But if UN.COM wanted to make the change to black
or silver on my saddle, I wouldnt mind the change at all!

Besides, I am thinking it would be easier for someone to catch your son

Nothing wrong with the existing logo. But they could get one or two
more. No need to pigeonhole themselves with just one look.

Beford's new t-shirt has "Bedford Unicycles" written with Mideval (sp?)
script while he still uses the regular font on other stuff.

If uni.com decided that a few company looks could sell more cycles,
then maybe they will come out with new looks, but I think they should
keep the existing one as well.

The whole idea of a logo is to hold a person's attention long enough for
them to remember the company's name the next time they decide to make a
related purchase. This one has done them fine in that respect.

I've got no problem with unicycle.com or their logo. My one purchase
went well. As a person that works in the industry I understand what it's
like.
The only issue that I have with this thread is this. I find it strange
the people who seem to take this WAAAAAAAY to seriously. This is a sport
(sort of). At this point unicycling is trying to be a sport. It's
supposed to be fun.
Instead a bunch of you nit-pick and criticise each other and complain a
whole lot. We as cyclists look like and are geeks. Embrace the geekdom.
Stop taking yourself so seriously. Nothing sillier then a geek who takes
himself to seriously. These are unicycles people.
Coolness and superiority never had a chance here.
