You may have to get the nsurance in your parents name.

I know out here in Australia that a contract made with a minor is not legally binding and so insurance companies would be foolish to take you up.

Insure it under your parents homeowners insurance and pay the cost of the premium increase. I dont belive you can get just a stand alone policy for a non motorized bike, but could be wrong. Add it on the homeowners on a schedule. Later.

There are a number of places that do Bike insurance as a seperate thing but the best way to do it would be as a specified extra on a home policy

but would that cover you for theft outside of your home

If you have it insured as part of the general contents then no it's not covered.

But normally you can pay an extra amount and have it covered for theft inside and out of the house.

Best thing to do is to ask your parents to talk to their insurance company

got it all sorted on the house insurance, £30 for a years worth of insurance on a £1300 bike. covered for theft in and out of house.
