ULTRA FLATE ?

I've heard others complain that the piercing pin breaks off or falls
out (don't know which), and that the o-rings fail (sometimes blamed on
oil in some of the CO2 carts). I carry a pump that is convertible to
use as a CO2 inflator, but have yet to be in so much of a hurry that I
didn't just pump the tire up instead of blowing a cart on it. (Of
course, 95% of my inflation is done at the house anyway, where the
cord reel from the compressor is right next to the door of the
garage...)

I find it a bit hard to fathom the fact that ANYONE out on a
"pleasure" ride would be in such a BIG hurry that they couldn't use a
frame pump to air up the tire. I have used a frame pump or something
similar for YEARS.

Just another way to reach into your pocket for that extra dollar as
far as I am concerned.

I have a suspicion that the rubber seal inside the presta stem freezes and
fails to seal. I can't prove that, certainly, but I leave the connection
together for a minute, folding the old tube, etc., to allow it to reach
normal temperature, and this seems to work.

No it's certainly not a pleasure. But when I am out riding and things
like that happen I figure it's just something to deal with.

and this is why I have an Ultra Flate in the daypack: I HAVE EXPLETIVE
DELETD DEALT WITH IT !!

now I find right off the litttle sucker isn't fool proof.

yeah Sandy itsnot a presta itsa schrader but local noise suggests
freezing iza problema. I'll try the French method.

I wuz sure, as I waited for the bus, the new Rema patch failed from
using CRC silicone for talc.
Looks like scraping tube (Spec thornproof) with sharp knife as cabinet
scraper removed the gooo without a alcohol pad buffer.

I'll look up Schrader malfunctions: the wobblely valve seat - local
noise sez "ring" - see if is that's leaking

right. when its 125 degrees at the top of Red Butte ....

I agree with you. On group rides where they everyone waits for
someone to change out a flat, I do get a bit rushed. I save time by
not using tire irons to remove or replace tire. My frame pump is full
length and it does take a couple of minutes to get the tire up.

My total turn around on a flat is likely no longer than someone that
uses cartridges and suffers getting tires off and on.
