Sold via infomercials and manufactured in China. Why am I not surprised
that the safety devices don't work.

I have a Krups mini-chopper and that thing is great. It does a great
job on bitty amounts of fresh veggies, mostly ... I chopped parsley in
it last night, and although I thought it would turn into parsley paste,
it stayed in perfect bits to add to the melted butter I was using.

I have one that I bought at a yard sale, unused, still in the
original package for $10. Canadian. I just checked as they instructed
and the safety feature works fine. I wouldn't turn on (in spite of a
dozen tries) without the lid. I like it for small amounts of chopping
since I don't have room for a food processer and all it's attachments.

Yeah, dang them stupid Chinese for not keeping track of the schizoid
safety freaks in the US. No matter dozens of other tools can take
appendages off by the glove-load, but we gotta make those pesky food
processors safe to the point of uselessness to protect the short bus
crowd.

I wouldn't have a problem with it if there were no safety switches. But
there are faulty switches that give an illusion of safety.
