😕 I currently have a complete ultegra groupo from 2000 and I wish to upgrade to a triple. I know they sell compenents individualy or as the groupo.
QUESTION... Can anyone cyclist and/or mechanic give me advise on what the minimum they might recommend for a minimally trouble free upgrade? I am hoping to not have to purchase the whole groupo. Any advice for obtaining what I need for a good price would also be appreciated
I think Ultegra, front shifter does have 3 clicks, so you do not need to change the shifter.
You will need new triple cranks, new front and rear derailleurs, a new triple bottom bracket, and a new chain if yours is not new.
I have double and triple, and I do not use ever the smaller chainring.
I would consider instead getting a new cassette 12-27 (ultegra and works with the small cage derailleur you have ) and if you need to have smaller chainrings then you can get the ultegra 52/39 or even get a smaller combination like 48/39 from other vendors like TA (just the chain ring).
