  1. Just wondering if any one has experience using an Ultegra 9spd FD-6500 w/ a 10 spd Ultegra cassette 6600

  2. Front deraillers are pretty dumb, they only do what the shifter tells them to do. Should be OK,

  3. Why would the FD have anything to do with the cassette?? 😕

  4. Forgive my ignorance if this is entirely untrue, but...

...isn't a 10 speed chain more narrow than a 9 speed to more easily accomodate the extra cassette cog? And hence the cage of a 10 speed front derailleur would be more narrow as well?

You are correct, but an 8 speed front derailleur would work too as long as it's adjusted correctly.

  6. Well I rode the trainer for 75 minutes last night and didn't miss one shift w/ the 9-speed front derailleur. So I guess it is fine.

  7. Good article on using 9 speed stuff with 10.
