AFAIK, 6700 components are not compatible with 6600 STI, even though both 6600 and 6700 series are 10 spd components.

I am agree with you that both are not compatible but the speed of but Ultegra 6700 RD is low weighty in contrast to 6600

Yes for RD, no for FD....6600, 5600 will shift a 6700 RD just fine..not the front. Use a 5600 or 6600 FD with 6600 or 5600 STI.

i'm using a rd-6700 (rear) and fd-6700 (front) braze-on with my st-5600 and both run just fine ....

So... I guess they work fine.
I will be upgrading to 6700 but over the next few months... First I'm getting the RD and FD, then the STI's
