Germany on friday. After that the World Cup in Hamburg and in Zurich. The Vuelta should follow

Don't forget that the Olympics were held shortly after the Vuelta that year. So, I would say Ullrich
had other motives for doing well in the Vuelta than just trying to salvage his season with a Vuelta
victory. He was trying to gain form for the Olympics, which seemed to work well.

place to LANCE in the Tour, then started the Vuelta. He dropped out to concentrate on the Olympics
and Heras took the Vuelta.

But yeah, the gist is the same. One of the reasons you ride the Vuelta is to build form
for the fall.

Also, wouldn't jan do the vuelta and work for Casero, also a former winner? Bianchi isn't a spanish
team but it has two former winners, and Casero worked for Ullrich in the tour (and he was pretty
invisible throughout, actually).

Ouch another "Lance should help Heras win the Vuelta like he said he would" discussions.

Ullrich and Armstrong are "natural born killers" and have better things to do than help second
fiddles to win the Giro or the Vuelta. If they sign up for such a tour it's to win it or build form
for the fall.

The Olympics were held about a year after the Vuelta that Ullrich won
(1999). No one can maintain their form that long. 2000 was the year that Heras won the Vuelta, and
the first time Ullrich finished 2nd to Lance at the Tour.
