I think what Ullrich said was he didn't "dope" whilst at Team Coast and thus should be paid unpaid salaries. He was only there for 4 months in the off-season so I'm sure he's right. He didn't dope in those 4 months. Shocking.

Dusseldorf - The former boss of the Coast cycling team was on Wednesday ordered by a German court to pay Jan Ullrich 340,000 euros (432,000 dollars) plus interest for failing to honour outstanding wages due to the now retired cyclist. Guenther Dahms refused to pay Ullrich the money due to him because he was of the opinion the 1997 Tour de France winner was doped during his time with the Coast team.

"It is good that truth won out. It was easy for me today, telling the truth is always easy," said Ullrich after the verdict from a court in Dusseldorf.

Ullrich explained that when he joined Coast at the beginning of 2003 he wasn't using "any banning doping substances or methods."

The 34-year-old stated under oath that he had not doped between January and March 2003, leaving him open to a prison sentence of at least a year if the contrary is proven at a later stage.

Last April, Bonn prosecutors ceased an investigation into whether Ullrich committed fraud against his former T-Mobile team.

However, a Hamburg court is still investigating claims made by molecular biologist Werner Franke that Ullrich paid money for doping substances to Eufemiano Fuentes, the Spanish doctor at the centre of the Operacion Puerto doping scandal. Ullrich denies the claim.

If memory serves me, Coast (they're a European womens fashion outfit) were in serious financial difficulty in 2005/6.

Dahms had to try to navigate Coast out of their financial woes.
Can't recall if he was successful or not.

Ullrich went in to a court of law and swore that he wasn't doping.
I would assume that Ullrich would need to be 100% sure of his plea before entering the stand.
Even in a civil case where levels of proof are of a different standard - it would have been highly risky for Ullrich to have tried to bluff it.

Coast jeans can still be bought in Europe and cheap [censored] fashion stores in the UK. I think the company was sold off.

Back to Ullrich. He didn't actually state that he never doped in his career only that he didn't dope during his brief stint at Coast. I have to say Ullrich did very well here as there was no proof of doping during his time at Coast. 2006 is another story. He wouldn't win that battle. Ullrich has been well advised.
