It's a German-thing... Or an Addais commercial... Or maybe a future
Olympic sport/competition of Pommmel-cycling? -

WA,
I obviously don't get out enough!... Thought I'd seen everything
Cycling. Europe just rules this sport in ways inconcievable to most of
the west...Wait a minute, ....Your really 'JoeKing', huh?

Very interesting video. I've seen "artistic cycling" before, but only
individuals, not a team. The symmetry and choreography is very impressive. My ignorance of the sport
leads to many questions:Does the use of bicycles rather than unicycles add difficulty or just the
appearance of greater difficulty? Is going backwards the preferred direction, or again, is it because of added
difficulty? It doesn't appear to be a big demand on stamina, as compared to say, figure
skating. Correct or incorrect? This didn't appear to be as physically demanding (in a gymnastic kind of
way) as the original picture. Is individual artistic cycling more geared
toward gymnastic type maneuvers and team more toward a symmetry of teamwork? For a world championship event, the arena seemed rather modest, although
there were still empty seats. Is the following of the sport that small? The 2005 world championship website mentioned competitors from 20 nations
and all "five" continents. I didn't see any entries listed from North or
South America (I believe the UCI recognizes N & S America as one region),
Africa, or Oceania. Is the sport organized or even practiced in these
regions? -

I guess I'm not converted yet because my first thoughts were "Damn,
Who is she?" and "Where do I get her phone # ?"
Pretty impressive.

Whoa. That is a long routine. I've never seen
anything like it. Never seen one person ride a
backwards wheelie, much less four dudes in a
synchronized routine, apparently whipping the
crowd into a minor frenzy.Robert

Bill AsherThat is just ridiculous. they road the whole dang thing no hand
backwards wheelie. WTF. Impressive, but you have to wonder just how
that kind of sport starts, gets enough support for a WC, etc. Like
cycle-ball, its UCI for petes sake.its not like its that dang cold in europe that every has to retreat to
a gym all winter.Just continues to confirm that euros are just weird.
Handball, case in point.

by pedaling backwards and having the extended bike following the pivot axis
rather than the other way around. -

on unicycles. I think they're only on "bikes" either it looks cooler
or it's some sort of legacy of the rules.JT

I've seen photos from the four person event that show the riders doing
maneuvers with both wheels on the ground. That group was definitely in "all
wheelie, all the time" mode. Pretty impressive.--

ride a unicycle backward than forward.Robert

championship, I just found the link to the video on another newsgroup. I
thought it was the weirdest cycling thing I had ever seen outside of the
20-man pacelines doing 17 mph on Ride the Rockies.--
