I made a tool for taking it off. It is a dowel with two pins sticking out to take it off. I don't
often need to use it. But it is nice to have for those times if it has not been used in a few days
and the cap gets stuck.

try some vegetable oil on the threads, kinda like putting some oil on the seal of your oil filter
before reinstalling it......

I have found that I need to blow a little air into the bladder to reduce the friction against the
other bladder wall. I think I will try the vegetable oil trick posted below though as well.

I like the fact you can easily fill up the newer 'baks with ice. That comes in handy in Arizona
during the summer...

How many caps have they used? The original was that bogus tight ass plug. And the one I have now is
a fairly good sized threaded cap that I can put ice cubes in. This was purchased about 3 years ago
with Blowfish. Have they changed again?

Yes you know can get your hand and a papertowel inside to dry it out. Personally I like the
newer design.

cap. I'm not aware of anything in between.

I DID buy another brand of hydration system that uses what's essentially a big ziploc bag for a
bladder. It looks like it's impossible that it wouldn't leak, but so far, it doesn't leak - AND you
can put ice in it even easier than the 'bak. I don't know if it will last forever, but it was
pretty cheap.

Yeah, the Platypus brand is like that, and that's what I've been using for the past two years. Plus
it's clear, not that funky aqua blue. Makes seeing any un wanted growth insidee of it easier.

That's the way Hydrapaks have been for the past few years. There was a production run of them that
were splitting at the bottom but they replaced them when it happened. Mine never leaks from the top
even when it's upside down in the gear bag.

Funny you ask. Just yesterday I broke the cap off my original Fastrack CamelBak. She and I have been
through a lot together and I was saddened to see her quit on me. Apparently the plastic became too
brittle and with the cold it just snapped off. So I guess the design was flawed?

Anyway, after many hours of calling around trying to find out which size bladder I needed, I finally
threw in the towel and went for a new one. Surprised I was to learn that buying a complete unit was
less than just the replacement bladder! A new CamelBak was $20 but the 50oz. bladder alone was over
$25!! Madness!!!

So I have my new CB now and I think it makes me look like a hiker and less like a biker. You know
whenever you're riding along and some hiker with 3 or 4 dogs is crowding the mtb singletrack, well
these guys are always wearing these new fangled CamelBaks that look like back packs (no doubt
stuffed w/dog treats), not like my ol'gal who's treated me well for so many years. Ah, I guess it's
time to move on... (This reminds me of that Pina Colada song I think it was called Escape by
Rupert(?) somebody.)
