Winter hit here today. Burrr it's cold. Inspite of the temp drop to 72 degrees I managed to get in a
good 10 mile run. Hope it warms up some for tomorrows bike ride.

I was going to give you a hard time for being cruel, but the fact of the matter is, I enjoy getting
to run in cooler weather.
Of course, I live in FL!

Man, I know what you mean. It was almost 68 last night when we started our Thursday night club run
down here in south Georgia.
Folks were talking about putting on running tights....
(Somehow, I don't think either of us is going to get much sympathy.)

Wimps. It was a balmy 50-55 degree here last night. Still ran in shorts and short sleeves.
And I'm usually one of the wusses around here that put on the long stuff first. We have two
guys here that I've seen run in 15-20 degree weather in shorts. Although many times I envy
you warm weather folks. There is something quite striking about those mid morning long runs
thru the trails on a cool morning with that big fluffy snow falling. Wouldn't want to give
those up, yet.

Ken-
Are you going to make this same post every year?
I moved to Indianapolis from the Twin Cities, so I don't think the winter here will bug me too much.

72...
Gosh I feel so sorry for you.
I love when it finally gets cold out here (Colorado). Well, I don't love doing laundry in the winter
(all those extra layers probably double or triple the amount of laundry I do) but...
-when it gets cold, the trails clear out. I rode from work to meet a friend last night and there
wasn't a soul in sight on the usually busy Cherry Creek trail. -things get so clear. The watery sun
of a winter morning makes the world soft and pastel. There is absolutely nothing like it. -snow
falls...I have a pair of neoprene socks (like surfers/folks in wet suits wear) that I slip under my
running shoes. It's like running on the beach but you have the whole world to yourself. They aren't
good for athletes foot but it really is fun. -the cold makes all the aches go away. Nothing numbs my
knees like running in the cold. -you appreciate being warm so much more. Walk back in the house
after a good run/bike and it's the greatest feeling. Jump in a hot shower and throw on dry
clothes...it's so wonderful.
Now I spent a few winters in the midwest and that is a very different experience. Colorado gets a
butt load of snow but we also have a ridiculous amount of sunshine so our snow melts away. The
midwestern winters...where snow sets in around November and nothing melts until March...are too
intense for me.
Mmmmm...I love the cold!
Moved from Fort Wayne Indiana to Dayton, OH. Man that it's positively balmy at this latitude! I'm
wearing shorts and a t shirt today. Actually, it's 64 outside, not bad for Ohio.

Yeah Harold,
It's a matter of individual perspective. Check Becca's post for the positive side of winter. 34
years in the tropics has ruined me. My tolerance for cold diminished to near nothing. I am really
worried about the swim in Lake Taupo next March. Water temp in the low 60's will be a reality shock.
