Funny, this was in my local paper but a cursory web search doesn't show
anything (yet)...
Apparently the UCI is refucing to supply Spanish authorities with samples of
blood, samples from which the said Spaniards wish to extract DNA for
comparison with frozen samples they already have from their ongoing
investigation.
UCI rep was quoted saying something high-minded to do with the UCI's samples
being retained for research purposes only.
How noble.

Not noble - It has to do with protocol. If Ulrich wanted to clear his name
he could provide the DNA sample himself.

Not noble - It has to do with protocol. If Ulrich wanted to clear his name
he could provide the DNA sample himself.-T
However he said he was a pro cylist not a criminal...an admission that
pro cyclists dope and that there is nothing wrong with that.

Yep, the UCI sure is serious about stamping out doping in pro cycling.

Yup. They didn't obtain Ullrich's consent to release it to others, so
they can't. They'd be in all sorts of legal trouble of they did.

Aw, c'mon, Steve... Didn't you read Pat McQuaid's explanation? The UCI
violated their protocols w.r.t. Floyd because they'd been criticised
in the past for *following* their protocols and not releasing riders'
names fast enough. 😉
Besides, according to McQuaid, the lab can't be trusted, and everybody
knew they were going to leak the information anyway, right?
It's time for an independent lab, one with no relationship to L'Equipe.
