My tourer needs a new rear tyre. It has Mavic rims, but I can't remember what sort of Mavic rim. The existing tyres are Panaracer Tour Guard 28mm. They've been quite good tyres, but from the start they were hard to get on and off the rim, and as they've aged it's got worse, not better. I've got a Var tyre lever, but still struggle immensely getting the tyre off, and in fact had to give up last time. (DH came to the rescue by bringing my other bike in the car so I could finish my ride.)

I'm using Panaracer Pasela 700c x 28 tyres on Mavic A319 rimmed wheels. I have found them easy to fit and remove and if I am not in a hurry I can fit and remove the tyres without using tyre levers.

Wot 'e said. Depravo the Roadrat has Pasela 25-622 on Mavic Open Pro rims and they went on pretty easily. T'old fixer has some variety of Mavic rims too, and no prombles fitting 28-622 Paselas on that one either.

This is a difficult question. It is not just the tyre and the rim. I use Mavic T238 with Continental Contact 700 x 28 with free inner tube. When I fit them I throw the free inner tube in the bin (aka brother, who use larger tyres) and fit a smaller inner tube. My LBA who know I like these tyres refuse point blank to fit this rim/tyre/tube combintation and I agree. The free Conti "28 Up" tube does not fit conti 700x28c tyres. So I fit a smaller inner tube also rated for 28 and the tyre fits easily. Conti "28 thin" work fine as do Vitoria 700x25-28 which use because they fit the Panaracer Stradius 700Cx25 folder that lives in my bag in case of tyre failure.
So you may find fitting your existing tyre will just be matter of changing your inner tube.

Yes, but the tyre is well and truly worn out, so I have to buy a new one anyway.
