  1. you know the sort im taking about...when you've so nearly finished
building your new steed, then it finally dawns on you that you need to
spend another £200 on 'little bits' to get it all spinning
    properly...spacers,adapters,all that kind of [censored]!

Well im on what I hope is my last 'little bit' for the xc bike.

The problem is that on the 2nd hand cranks I have (race face square
taper lp turbines) there are threaded holes drilled around the very
centre of the spider to fit the granny ring to , the problem is that
there's no 'spacers' to space the granny ring out from the middle ring.
Now I've had some advice and aparrently I need a set of spacers to move
the granny ring far enough out from the middle ring to get the chain to
fit onto it. The trouble is that I'll need spacers 8-10mm thick and
theres no way that a chainring bolt (even a long one) will fit through
the granny and the spacer to get a hold of the spider.
I've had a look on the net and aparrently some raceface cranks come/came
with a removable inner granny spider so that single ring users could
remove it to get a tighter fit with a chain device (have I lost
everyone??) So what im asking is , does anyone know if this is the case
, would it be what I need to get my granny ring mounted and properly
spaced from the middle ring?...or is it something else entirly...also
does anyone know where I can get what I need to get it fixed!

Failing that I'll just have to be hardcore and ditch the granny ring!

Cheers in advance to anyone who has the know how!
