I think that Hamilton has a right to test the waters. First, with his collerbone injury and the subsequent ride he is giving CSC more publicity than they could dream of. He is giving CSC and Rijs plenty. Clearly, Hamilton is one of the strongest riders today. If he was healthy I think he could win the Tour. Given that he may as well try and get as much money as he can. Hamilton suffers and he deserves to be paid. Lastly, there is no guarentee that Lance rides next year. He may win in medicore form and then retire, or he may lose and retire. If Lance retires than Hamilton would be his natural replacement on USPS (Heras might be upset). I am not suggesting that Lance will retire, but it is possible and Hamilton might know as well as anyone if Lance was going to retire.

I would not seat it at all. I would assume that in addition to wonting to concentrate on the race, he is probably concerned that he should evaluate his market value when he is thinking with a clear head. It could be that CSC is trying to get him signed before he realizes that his market value has skyrocketed during the Tour. IOW, he may just want a better salary.
I think at this point Tyler can pretty much write his own check with any team he wants. I'm hoping he stays with Riis, and keeps his salary reasonable so they can sign stronger support riders. Bill C

First the conversion thing is rather stupid. If they pay him 6.61 times the Krones then it doesn;t matter. French Soccer players used to play in Italy when it was how many thousand lira to the Franc. I think the reason that tyler might go to USPS or another US replacement team is that a US company will not sponser cycling without a US leader. Tyler is the second best american cyclist and he would be the best if Lance retires. If a US team continues at the top level post armstrong then Tyler will be the natural team leader. That American team will be paying him not only because he is good, but also because he is American. Patriotism might play a small roll as well. If Armstrong does not retire I think Hamilton would stay with CSC...Very few other teams have the money to sign a rider of his caliber. Telekom certainly, but Vino and Botero are more than enough leaders. I suppose Once, but there are lots of Spainish riders. So expect Hamilton to be on one of two teams next year.

That means he'll get more dollars for each krone, since a dollar is "worth less." Maybe "more dollars" will allow him to buy just as many actual goods/services here in the states, or even more if the "declining value" is greater than the domestic inflation rate. Maybe Tyler's financial advisor is also versed in currency speculation. How would you know?
