This from the A.P. Hamilton could be stripped of gold medal
" Olympic time-trial cycling champion Tyler Hamilton of the United States has apparently failed tests designed to detect a form of performance-enhancing blood transfusions. "
This is sad...As much press as Armstrong gets for doping and no one expected Hamilton to try something....underhanded....
The jury is still out on this one. I have seen conflicting reports, some state the test found foreign RBC's, other reports state they found evidence of autologous blood doping.
I would say this is a false positive. The test is way too new to rule out a false positive.

I think the foreign red blood cells is the same as teh autologous blood doping...homologous would be Hamilton using his own blood to bank and retransfuse... I think.

Either way, I'm a fan of the guy, and I hope it's not true. If he can't be vindicated, it's very, very disappointing.

Is the assumption, then, that Hamilton failed a homologous test, and not a autotransufsion test?

The other way around, according to the latest cyclingnews article. Confusing terminology.
Hamilton sounded pretty sincere in his press conference. He gets the benefit of the doubt for now.
I've met him, rode with him; great guy... he's the closest thing I have to a cycling hero these days.

yes...confusing terminology...
Autologous: Transfusion of blood from the same individual.
Homologous: Transfusion of blood from another individual of the same species.
Heterologous: Transfusion of blood from another species.
