  1. I started low carbing in Augst of 2003 after I saw how much weight my
brother lost on Atkins. At that point, I was around 240lbs. I had
been trying a low fat diet and had lost about 9 lbs in 6 months. My
cholesterol panel was a mess. Triglycerides were over 300. They
couldn't get an accurate count of my LDL because triglycerides were so
high, but they were over 180. I had trouble sleeping at night because
I would snore myself awake. I also had bad acid reflux. Size 38
pants were beginning to get tight.

Within 3 days of starting low carb, I had completely stopped snoring.
My wife said she had to keep checking me to make sure I was breathing.
    Acid reflux has completely disappeared.

Today, I am at 181 lbs. Total cholsterol was 157. LDL less than 100,
Triglycerides less than 120. I now wear size 32 pants. I had gotten
down to 178 after I stopped lifting due to a strained neck muscle and
then a strep infection, but I thought I lost too much muscle
definition so I went up to 185 after resuming lifting. I have lost
about 4 lbs in the last couple of months.

I first compared side by side and was pretty bummed because I didn't
see much change since last year. I felt better after comparing the
front. I will probably try to lose about 5 more lbs, maybe 10 and
    gain back 5.

  2. Congratulations on the loss. You didn't mention your height, but you do
indicate that you want to lose more weight.

In addition to low carbing, you may wish to try monitoring calories using a
program like Fitday, and measuring portions with a kitchen scale. For me,
it became necessary to stop eating food that had not been prepared (and
    weighed) at home.

  3. You're at the point where if you want to lower your bodyfat%, you'll have to
decide if it's really worth it, because it's going to get exponentially more
    difficult.

Thanks, probably about 5'10-5'11. Losing weight and working out has
improved my posture, so I think I picked up a 1/2 an inch or so.

    Hi Bryan,
Congrats on your loss and bettering your health. I used to snore and gasp
at night, and I wouldn't be able to get a good sleep. Now I'm told I sleep
like a log and don't snore at all.
It's great getting a good night sleep now isn't it?
    You look great.
